Some of our chickens used to be raised inside a barn and under all wire hanging rabbit cages. In this way, the rabbit droppings were stirred around by the chickens into the deep pine shavings so to aleviate any pile up of droppings & amonia odors. The chickens could profit from any feed spilled and bugs that might be attracted to the bedding materials. In 2007 we put up a tent structure from FarmTek (See links page for link to their web site) that is 14'W x 18'L. Our "Fur and Feather Inn" will house our breeding rabbits in hanging wire cages above a floor of deep sawdust bedding where our layers will be housed. We will be careful to raise and lower the sides of the tent according to the weather.

Our Chicken Tractors & Hen Havens are a wonderful way of containing our hens yet letting them enjoy debugging, fertilizing the yard, etc. We used them to move chickens to a fresh patch of grass daily while being contained and protected.
Portable Chicken Tractor 4' x 8'
This style is ideal for finishing cornish rock meat chickens and for chicks coming out of the brooder. Be sure to close in 1/2 of the sides in the back if it is still cold outside. Clear plastic and a staple gun works great!

The "Hen Haven" below is a walk in 4' x 8' two story portable chicken coop. The coop area is 4' x 4' with a wire floor, built in 4 hole nesting box, and roost poles. It has wheels in the back and extended handles in front for mobility purposes. Use these pics to design one for yourself!
